Netizens discuss Maeda Atsuko’s disappointing concert ticket sales

4 Apr

Ex-AKB48 ace Maeda Atsuko’s solo concert was held on the 3rd April at Zepp Tokyo. However, sales of tickets on the day itself have become a controversial topic on the internet.

Her single “Seventh Chord” released on 5th March contained a serial number which allowed preorders for her concert tickets. However, tickets were not sold out so normal sales started on 22nd March.

“The 1st floor of Zepp Tokyo has a standing capacity of 2416, whilst 2nd floor has seating capacity of 200. When tickets are sold on the day itself, it means seats were not sold out.”

This has caused a sensation on the internet, as people commented “To think that she’s actually not that popular…” and “Is this reality for the ace of a national idol group?”.

“There were spaces left over in the standing area. The reserved seats were also being auctioned on the internet at a cheaper price. Seems like her career as a singer is going to get tougher the more she gets recognized as an actress.”

The last day of her concert is on 4th April, at Zepp Namba, Osaka.

I checked Yahoo auctions for tickets to her Zepp Namba concert and it’s true that people are selling them off at cheaper prices. Starting bid is 3000 for the 5400yen tickets. This doesn’t seem good for Acchan esp since her single sales have been dropping drastically….even if there’s only been 2 releases after her graduation. I guess alot of her fans have moved on.

Right now music sales in Japan aren’t so good, even famous singers have difficult to sell cds. But it’s surprising the low attendance considering her fans haven’t seen her in a long time. I think more than the girls itself fans like the image of the girls in AKB ( and all these fun things AKB offers to fans ) and once you graduate is like you lost that something special fans like.

Yeah i think fans like the idol treatment given to them when they were in AKB. Even for Tomochin, her latest single sales were quite poor. But the worst is Kasai Tomomi. Its ok for Acchan cos she still has acting but for those intending to sing, their career is going to end pretty soon.

I’d always thought Maeda graduated too soon, she spent so many years with the girls trying to get AKB popular, and once it happened she just left, missing so great things like dome tour, Nissan, and National stadium. I know she had her reasons, but being a success singer outside AKB is impossible, at least like you said she kind of has a name like actress.

I believe all those girls who wanted to become singers will think twice now n switch to acting. It’s a sad reality…and i don’t see how being in akb helps them to become actresses unless they are really popular.
