Domoto Koichi x Kanda Sayaka sing duet of “Love is an Open Door”

18 Aug

The Japanese version of the duet between “Hans” and “Anna” in movie “Frozen” is now immensely popular nationwide.

Kanda Sayaka, the voice actress for “Anna”, previously appeared on Domoto Kyoudai and performed the song together with Domoto Koichi of Kinki Kids. Nicknamed “Prince Koichi”, fans were ecstatic to see him take on the role of “Hans” and sing lines like “Will you marry me?”. Ultimately, he did do a great job with the vocals but knowing that Koichi is a stoic guy, this performance was just too cheesy and embarrassing to watch. Couldn’t help bursting into laughter when the camera panned to Takamina/Nishikawa/Tsuyoshi at the end.

Takamina and Nishikawa’s epic faces: “We lost our souls.”

Tsuyoshi: “We’re never doing this duet again.”

“Bokura no Ongaku” and “Shin Domoto Kyoudai” gets the axe from FujiTV

2 Aug

Johnny’s music programs “Bokura no Ongaku” (helmed by SMAP Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) and “Shin Domoto Kyoudai” (helmed by Kinki Kids) will end their run at the end of September.

These shows have been airing for more than 10 years and are well-received by the public. So why the sudden axe? Apparently, the producer behind these shows, Sakuchi-san, has a stance of banning lip-synching on his shows. This has offended major entertainment and recording companies. The management of Fuji TV decided to axe Sakuchi-san’s programmes to quell the protests.

“Bokura no Ongaku” has been airing since April 2004 while “Shin Domoto Kyoudai” has been airing since April 2001.

I can’t speak much for Bokura no Ongaku but i’ve seen very high quality performances from them, my favorite being Tohoshinki’s performances below.

As for Domoto Kyoudai,it’s not that much of a music show but one of my favourite varieties since it brings so many of my fandoms together. Koichi’s fan service, Takamina’s fights with the cameraman, Tsuyoshi’s banter with Koichi, and the occasional VIP appearances from Sato Takeru, Oguri Shun etc. I can’t imagine this show being cut just because of silly fights with the entertainment agencies!

Maeda Atsuko and Takamina on Domoto Brothers

16 Mar

The retired ace of AKB48 Maeda Atsuko reunites with Takahashi Minami to talk about their friendship. They also sang a nice version of “M”, a song from 1980s group Princess Princess. I personally feel that their voices match well. They should have formed a unit before Acchan went solo.

Tegoshi Yuya & Naoto Nakamura sings “Hitoribocchi no Yoru” on Domoto Kyoudai

7 May

On latest episode, Tegoshi and Naoto Nakamura guested as soccer buddies and sang an oldie “人ぼっちの夜”/ “Hitoribocchi no Yoru”.

I was hoping Tegomass would guest as its been ages since they appeared on Domoto Kyoudai…but the song more than made up for it.
