Maeda Atsuko’s first solo live “I will be crying today”

4 Apr

Actress and also a singer, Maeda Atsuko held her first solo live “SEVENTH CHORD” at Zepp Tokyo today. After graduating from AKB48, her chance to mingle with the fans has drastically decreased. During today’s reunion with 2700 fans, “I usually pretend to be tough and don’t say this but, I will be crying today” Maeda said with a bashful grin while wiping her tears.

At first, Maeda had enthusiastically said, “This is the 1st time for me to have a proper live. I’ve gotta show something that is worthwhile” but something unusual came over her on the 5th song, the ballad “Migikata”. Her voice was choked up multiple times & fans ended up singing on her behalf during the 2nd chorus. It is proceeded by “Kimi ha boku da” where she cried while holding her forehead. She held both hands together as a sign of apology but the crowd wrapped her up with a big warm “Acchan” call.

“The song & everyone kinda overlapped so… I’m really sorry…” Maeda laughed wryly. “It’s only the first 5 songs. But you would probably have thought that I was singing the finale” she made fun of herself, “Sorry for getting all emotional by myself there”. Fans who had waited long for “singer Acchan” showered her with words like “Welcome back!” “Aitakatta” “We’ve been waiting”. While holding her hand over her heart, she replied tearily, “Being on my own (solo) means that it gets harder to meet everyone, it has been lonely. So I’m glad I get to meet everyone today”.

This live was supposed to be in commemoration of Seventh Code which was released last month but probably because she had been crying & was shaken up, she asked airily “It has been half a year since the release last year right?”. It was promptly corrected by the fans and she seemed flustered and replied, “Eh, it was released in March? Not October (last year)?” where the audience was subsequently enveloped in further laughter.

With a live band backing her up, Maeda sang a total of 18 songs enthusiastically for 2 hours. “I’ve gotta make more opportunities to meet everyone like this” she said at the end, making a promise for a reunion with her fans.

Netizens discuss Maeda Atsuko’s disappointing concert ticket sales

4 Apr

Ex-AKB48 ace Maeda Atsuko’s solo concert was held on the 3rd April at Zepp Tokyo. However, sales of tickets on the day itself have become a controversial topic on the internet.

Her single “Seventh Chord” released on 5th March contained a serial number which allowed preorders for her concert tickets. However, tickets were not sold out so normal sales started on 22nd March.

“The 1st floor of Zepp Tokyo has a standing capacity of 2416, whilst 2nd floor has seating capacity of 200. When tickets are sold on the day itself, it means seats were not sold out.”

This has caused a sensation on the internet, as people commented “To think that she’s actually not that popular…” and “Is this reality for the ace of a national idol group?”.

“There were spaces left over in the standing area. The reserved seats were also being auctioned on the internet at a cheaper price. Seems like her career as a singer is going to get tougher the more she gets recognized as an actress.”

The last day of her concert is on 4th April, at Zepp Namba, Osaka.

I checked Yahoo auctions for tickets to her Zepp Namba concert and it’s true that people are selling them off at cheaper prices. Starting bid is 3000 for the 5400yen tickets. This doesn’t seem good for Acchan esp since her single sales have been dropping drastically….even if there’s only been 2 releases after her graduation. I guess alot of her fans have moved on.

Maeda Atsuko and Takamina on Domoto Brothers

16 Mar

The retired ace of AKB48 Maeda Atsuko reunites with Takahashi Minami to talk about their friendship. They also sang a nice version of “M”, a song from 1980s group Princess Princess. I personally feel that their voices match well. They should have formed a unit before Acchan went solo.

Aces of AKB48 reunite on Music Station, Oshima Yuko complains about Acchan

1 Mar

On the 28th Feb episode of Music Station, Maeda Atsuko made an appearance to promote her new single “Seventh Chord”, together with guests including AKB48. Oshima Yuko was asked about her interaction with Maeda Atsuko.

Yuko mentioned that both mail each other at times and even made a promise to meetup for a meal, but Acchan never contacted her after that. Acchan explained that she was actually expecting Yuko to set up the date, which prompted Takamina to ask “Is everything okay?”

Afterwards, Yuko added that Acchan had gotten her driving license and had promised let Yuko be her first passenger. But 1.5 years later, the promise was still not fulfilled. Turns out that Acchan hasn’t been driving at all since she can’t even park. The others exclaimed, “That’s scary!!”.

The conversation then turned to Kojima Haruna, who tried to lie about going to a Rolling Stones concert with Acchan, but it turns out that they only bumped into each other and had a good time. When asked whether they left the concert together, Kojiharu laughed and said they went separate ways for dinner since both had different preferences.

Matsui Jurina is also on friendly terms with Acchan, it seems, as she revealed Acchan had invited Jurina to her house and even made her breakfast.

After the program ended, Yuko uploaded the 2-shot on her blog with the caption “Getting prettier by the day~!”.

Matsuya Onoe’s mother approves of her son getting married to Atsuko Maeda

25 Nov
Over a month since Atsuko Maeda (22) and kabuki actor Matsuya Onoe’s (28) relationship was made public, people have been closely monitoring the outcome of this big couple’s romance.

As both parties maintain their silence, we went to the first day of Onoe’s stage play held last November 1. As we made our way into the staff entrance of the venue for the play Meijiza Juiichigatsu Hanagata Kabuki, we spotted a delicate woman wearing a white kimono, looking for him. This was his mother, Morie Kawai (57).

“Matsuya Mama” was also known as a shinpa actress. According to related personnel, she has been seen numerous times in the venues in order to attend to the people who come to the dressing rooms to greet her son. Matsuya Mama was initially surprised with our sudden interview, but answered our questions calmly.
What is the outlook like concerning a Matsuya-san and Maeda-san marriage?

“I have always thought that whoever marries a kabuki actor should at least know a little about the industry. If it’s someone like Atsuko Maeda, then I entirely approve of it. Even tomorrow is OK with me.”
–If they do get married, would you want Maeda-san to join your family?
“I retired from my acting career when I got married, but I want Maeda-san to continue her career without forcing herself too much. The kabuki world is not a financially stable industry, especially when you are still young. There are also times when the wife has to provide support for the husband…… It will also be difficult once they have a baby.”
–Are the two living together?
“(As she nods a little) I’m terribly sorry, I would need to be excused as I am in a hurry.”
It was a very short crash interview, but she has definitely made it clear that she would gladly welcome Atsuko Maeda as Matsuya’s wife.
It seems that no one can put a stop to the love affair of the couple. Despite the lingering aftershocks of reports about her romance, there’s no doubt that this new tremor called “marriage” will shake the public further. But there are still concerns as to how the couple have met which eventually led to their relationship…
When we tried to ask both agencies for comments, the reply we got from Matsuya’s side was: “We will not disclose any comment regarding this matter”, while Maeda’s side went: “The one in charge isn’t here so please call us again some other time”.
