If you are visiting USJ this summer and don’t mind spending a huge chunk of money on these shows, here’s the calendar schedule on their official website.

Tickets to these shows are not included in the entrance tickets. Tickets cost 9,900 yen (about $91.50) if bought in advance with a studio pass included and 3,000 yen (about $28) on the same day.

If i had the fortune to visit USJ,i’d invest my time on Harry Potter World instead…

SMAP effect?Newest ride at Universal Studios Japan garners longest queue in history

USJ

I was watching the vacation special of “SMAPxSMAP” and came to learn about Universal Studios Japan’s  newest rollercoaster “Hollywood Dream: The Ride -Backdrop”. It is truly one-of-a-kind because the roller coaster actually moves backwards with a breathtaking speed! It takes guts to get on that ride and i would certainly hesitate, but SMAP looked like they were having so much fun!

Look at Takuya Kimura pumping his fists in the air as the roller coaster drops downwards. He was gushing on about how exciting the ride was afterwards, i could tell he really enjoyed it. (Usually he just acts cool and keeps mum.)

Here’s a video clip of them taking the ride.

So what’s this SMAP effect?

Apparently, they did a collaboration with  USJ by singing the theme song for this rollercoaster, titled “Battery”. The song is entirely in English, and is played as the roller coaster moves off to match the thrills of the ride. The song is currently being promoted on SMAP’s own shows as well as Music Station. Together with the broadcast of them trying this ride, the ride is receiving overwhelming response as it was launched officially to the longest queue in USJ history, with people waiting in line for 7 hours and 30 minutes the first day, stretching as long as 9 hours and 40 minutes in the following days.

Will you queue that long for this ride?!
