Yamashita Tomohisa will be filming a Chinese movie for the first time, joining Chinese actor/singer Han Geng and Taiwanese/British actor Rhydian Vaughan in “Decoders”.
The storyline is about an otaku, a undercover police and his girlfriend teaming up to maintain safety in cyberspace. Yamapi will take on the evil role – the leader of a Singapore cybercrime squad. He will pit his wits against Han Geng, Rhydian etc.
They will be filming in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, London in future for 70 days.
In other news, Yamapi mentioned in his solo live tour that he went for Yakiniku with Kame recently, and felt very motivated after the meeting. He also showed off a photo of them together to concert goers.
Ishihara Satomi has been spotted visiting Yamashita Tomohisa’s apartment one night in early May.
The 2 were co-actors and lovers in last year’s Fuji TV drama “5-ji kara 9-ji made”.
Ishihara won a “Lead Actress” award and Yamashita won a “Supporting Actor” award in the 19th Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix.
“Ishihara isn’t known for dating rumors with other talents usually, and the only one which was reported was a serious relationship with a cameraman. Her ideal type is the sincere kind. Indeed Yamapi has always been spotted while on his night outs with friends. He was also reported to be in a relationship with Kitagawa Keiko and Abiru Yuu. But when did he get serious with Ishihara?

After the drama, Ishihara went for meals with the co-actors frequently.

On the night when Ishihara was spotted visiting Yamapi’s house, it was also the occasion when the cast of “5-ji kara 9-ji made” were having a home party.
Another article reports on how Yamapi is stressing over his “blank schedule” ahead, a result of his ex-manager Iljima leaving Johnny’s and leaving him now in an awkward position with the company. He grew closer to Ishihara, who has been supporting him all these while.

While promoting for movie “TerraFormars” at a red carpet event recently, Yamapi and Oguri Shun showed off their close friendship, teasing each other as they were taking interviews. As Yamapi was talking about the appeals of the movie, Oguri Shun reached over repeatedly to fondle his face. When it was Oguri Shun’s turn to talk, Yamapi decided to poke at his cheek, causing him to shy away amidst fangirls’ screams.

In another interview, Oguri Shun also talked about having to keep his eyes on his baby daughter, who is apparently getting herself in all sorts of trouble fiddling with drawers and getting herself hurt!
TerraFormars is adapted from a manga series, a story set in the future where humans are sent to Mars to eliminate humanoid cockroaches. (More info here)
The movie features an all-star cast consisting Oguri Shun, Takei Emi, Hideaki Ito, Yamashita Tomohisa, Yamada Takayuki and also ex-AKB48 member Shinoda Mariko. It is set to air in theaters on 29th April 2016.
Yamashita Tomohisa will be releasing his first best of album on 27th Jan 2016.
This album is a collection of his singles from 2012 till now. It also features “Dreamer”, a favorite amongst fans.
“Dreamer” is a song written by Yamapi himself 5 years ago. In order to express the concept of “moving towards the future”, he flew specially to the Arizona, United States, to film the MV. The MV and extra clips will be included in this album.
The album comes in 2 limited and 1 regular editions.
Yamashita Tomohisa talked about NEWS during a radio show “Sound Tripper!” (InterFM) on 18th December 2015.
The theme for this week was “Year 2011”.
For Yamashita, it was the year he left NEWS to go solo.
Reflecting on that year, he confessed “At that time i had to do what i was thinking. I didn’t want to continue, I was self-centered. Indeed i was still childish then. When i turned solo, i started to realise the importance of having a group and comrades.”
He revealed that he continues to be connected with NEWS members in some ways.
“Recently i met Masuda Takahisa at a TV station and talked about going for drinks. Koyama Keiichiro also told me that he changed numbers.”
Seeing them working hard, he feels like he has to do the same.
Actress Ishihara Satomi(28) and Yamashita Tomohisa(30) will be starring in October’s Fuji TV drama “5→9 ~The overly handsome monk who fell in love with me~”.
Ishihara will play an English teacher who welcomes the most popular period of her life after meeting a handsome monk(Yamapi). Their first meeting results in Ishihara accidentally pouring incense ashes over Yamapi’s head during a funeral service. They reunite at a blind meeting and he approaches her.
I’m really excited cos i read this manga and found it to be quite good.

Yamapi is playing a “carnivorous” type of guy
There is supposed to be a love triangle as Ishihara has a friend who’s liked her for a long time.
This story is supposed to make you go “kyun kyun” or “kya~~” provided it’s adapted well. I’m abit worried about Yamapi not living up to the character as his overall image is too stylish. Tamaki Hiroshi, on the other hand would have been a perfect fit.
Last year, the “Akanishi Troop” consisting Akanishi Jin, Nishikido Ryo and Yamashita Tomohisa amongst others caused controversy after stealing/destroying a cellphone from someone during a night out in Roppongi. The case was settled after a large amount of settlement money was paid to the victim. However, Yamashita, who seems to have taken most responsibility for it by apologising through the media, is said to have distanced himself from the group.
According to a entertainment writer, it seems like Johnny’s jimusho has served Yamapi with the ultimatum to break off relations with Akanishi. This statement was published in the 18th Aug version of Shukan Jousei.
The Akanishi Troop takes an annual trip overseas to strengthen their unity. Last year, they went to Singapore but Yamashita did not tag along.
In June this year, the members held a birthday party but Yamapi did not show up as well.
“If it were the Yamapi before this incident, this would not happen. This is how strong his feelings for Akanishi is like,” says the entertainment writer.
In another article, Yamapi is said to be hanging out with actors Ayano Go, Sato Takeru, Miura Shohei lately.
Ayano Go and Yamapi were introduced to each other by Yamada Takayuki 4 years ago. Both hit it off and go drinking till daybreak. Miura and Yamapi were introduced by Ito Hideaki. Both have co-starred with Ito Hideaki and see him as a big brother.
“He also frequents a gay bar and goes there once a week. There was a fireworks festival along Sumida River at the end of July and he rented a boat with the regulars of that bar to see it,” says acquaintance of Yamapi.
“YamaP no Kiss Eigo” -a TV show which aims to improve Japanese people’s English in a fun manner, pranked AKB48 Minegishi Minami and Kashiwagi Yuki in last week’s episode, bringing their English skills to light. In the show, a foreigner speaking English would call up the girls, pretending to have found their manager’s/friend’s phone. See how each of them reacted below.
Minegishi and her love for the word “slave”
Minegishi Minami appears to be quite flustered at first but quickly understood that her manager had lost his/her phone. When the foreigner was asking about the owner of the phone however, Minegishi shocked everyone by saying it belongs to her “slave”. She triple confirmed this statement, drawing laughter from everyone. The conversation reached a roadblock when they were discussing to meet. Minegishi could not understand the question “What are you wearing?” and had to request for “Kids’ English”. When describing her job as an AKB48 member, Minegishi also described it as a “slave”.
Minegishi later confessed that she thought “slave” was a word meant for someone respectable, and that she had learnt it from Akimoto Yasushi’s lyrics.
Kashiwagi and her gross misinterpretation of the word “this”
Minegishi Minami was asked to nominate another member to prank. The MC requested specifically for Kashiwagi Yuki(due to her scandal), noting that it is a special moment since both Johnny’s and AKB48 members are in the same room when they are making the call to her.
Kashiwagi did not get the foreigner’s words initially and thought “this” was “busu”(japanese word for someone ugly). Their conversation was so focused on the word “this” that Yukirin thought she had found 1 ugly person. She forgot about this word later and miraculously understood that Minegishi had lost her phone. Their conversation progressed well with Yukirin replying mostly in Japanese, prompting the MC to describe her as a obaasan(probably cos only youngsters would reply in English).
When the prank was explained to Kashiwagi, the MC asked her if she was feeling irritated since she kept mentioning “busu”. Perhaps this was a subtle hint at her scandal but Yukirin deflected it by saying she’ll continue shopping.
Yamashita Tomohisa appeared on PON! in early October to promote his movie Kinkyori Renai, which has been doing well in the theaters(ranked No.2 in the opening week). He answered some personal questions from the MCs and also revealed his baby photos.While most of his answers should be nothing new to older Yamapi fans, some who have questioned the status of his friendship with Ikuta Toma will be happy to know that they are still as close as ever!
